The Love And Loss Behind Grief
One small word filled with so much meaning. What is grief?
One could explain it as perceiving a total separation caused by a loss of sorts and the inability to change the situation.
The most common being the death of a loved one. Death is unavoidable. When loving someone, we also know the day they pass away, we will feel grief.
It should make it clear how important it is for us to deal with grief and how it ties to more than the death of a loved one. It can be the loss of a home, relationship, or job, just to name a few. The emotion of grief can accompany any failure in our lives.
Losing oneself is another painful experience we may not think about as much. Losing oneself keeps us searching for meaning our entire lives, and any rejection will feel like throwing salt into a fresh wound. We know that going on without our whole being on board will be a prolonged and painful ride.
Grief is not like some other emotions.
Sadness, for example, has a way of coming and going based on the circumstances. A prolonged sense of sadness is more like what we call depression. But grief is deep, and it scars because it never truly goes away; it only gets lighter with a few spikes here and there.
Losing anything we love is a shock to our being. It's not something to heal or process necessarily, but more of riding the waves and not suppressing anything that shows up.
It's unpredictable and raw, yes. Other times it's an uncomfortable ache that seems persistent, like a splinter. However, suppression of grief can lead to many unhealthy behaviours and self-destruction. Never hesitate to ask for comfort and support. We are not meant to do it alone.
Loving someone or something so much that we grieve them, or it is a blessing.
Not everyone gets that opportunity. Having people grieve you is another blessing we shouldn't take for granted. No feeling comes alone or without purpose and meaning.
Life has many opposing factors and hardships. But it also has the potential for great love, passion, and friendship. Experiences and opportunities and when we grieve, we know we have fully loved and lived.

A blessing in disguise that can only be felt and experienced when the rawness of loss has settled a bit.
Don't rush anything in life. It all happens for a reason. Albeit twisted reasons at times.
